make it a glass half full
One thing that sucks about living on a beautiful lake, watching stunning sunset after sunset, is constantly thinking about how romantic it would be if I had someone to share it with. On the other hand, I own the beautiful cottage of my childhood, have my darling baby love sleeping peacefully in her crib, and delicious walnut pancake leftovers in my mouth. Life could totally be worse.
If things keep going this way, I’m going to be fat (thanks to the pancakes) and alone when I get old, but hopefully I’ll have kids and grandkids to look after me (and check my blood pressure), and these perfect sunsets in my own backyard will be the last thing I lay eyes on in this world. I could then die happy, even if I do a fair bit of whining about the rest of it before I go.
Just let me keep the baby this time, this baby, and I promise not to complain too much about anything else again.
