it’s that time of year

Foster/Adopt license renewal.

I’m suddenly very stressed out about my water temperature (even though I haven’t changed it since last year) and whether or not my smoke detectors are working.

Although I only tidy the house, wipe down counters, and run the vacuum in the livingroom for caseworker visits (my usual housecleaning every few days), for the licenser I also have to clean the porch and its closet (access to my furnace), the bathroom and its closet (access to the water heater/softener), the nursery (her sleeping area), and make sure the door alarms are working, along with smoke and CO2 detectors (door alarms are required if you live near an unfenced body of water). I don’t think I have to babyproof if she’s not crawling yet, but I may just go ahead and get it done since I have the stuff and she is SO CLOSE to crawling. And I also need to dust, just in the livingroom, at least the obvious places that are lower than eye level.

Oy.

  1. Wow that’s a lot! I’d start the baby proofing, at least outlet covers, cupboard latches, and making sure the tv is secure, if it were me. I never would have thought about the door alarms and water thing, we live right along a river. If we are still here when he is walking, I will have to look into making sure he can’t get out the doors on his own, though that should be a concern for any parent even without waged nearby. Heard on the radio this morning about a 2yo who walked out of the house and was out in the woods on her own last night!
