busy bees

We are busily preparing for an exciting upcoming couple of weeks! I have been working some over time, and trying to prepare for everything that’s about to happen. Yesterday, my one day off, I had to get the car cleaned out for the road trip, and buy groceries so we don’t have to pull over or eat out while we’re in St. Louis. We leave tomorrow evening! I also had to make sure my girl had an appropriate dress and dress shoes to wear to the wedding. She has outgrown all of her closed-toe shoes. I still don’t really know what I’m going to wear!

I got the adoption announcements (that includes date/time to adoption party) out in the mail, reserved a backyard canopy with tables and chairs, and created the menu and decorating scheme. I am still trying to reserve a private room at a restaurant close to the court house for immediate family after the adoption ceremony. My daughter has a dress for the adoption, but I don’t. I ordered her keepsake chest and locket as adoption gifts from me to her. Nine more days!!!

We visited the early childhood center where she will be going to “school” twice a week, three hours at a time. I made sure I had paperwork in order and met the teacher. My kiddo already loves the school, she didn’t want to leave. I have a feeling she will just be like, “see you later, mom!” on her first day. We are going to an open house at the school next Tuesday for an orientation.

We also only had yesterday free to hit our own county fair, which I really wanted to do since she loved the county fair we went to a few weeks ago. She got quite nervous when the horses neighed, or the cows moo’d, but was still eager to pet them. Interestingly, the pigs seem to scare the hell out of her, even though they just laid there quiet (and so adorable). Here’s a few pics:

Riding all by herself for the first time (with random toddler I was hoping would model good ride behavior for her)

After this, she started crying. The horse was making a lot of noise!
