shit hits the fan

M has been peeing herself lately for no reason I can think of, and just peed in her car seat (which she never does). My mom took off for a few days out of the blue. My grandma is saying she wants to go to the ER. I just got out of M’s doctor appointment, where she has gained another pound and a half since her last appointment a few weeks ago.  Her weight was already way off the chart and now it’s more so.

So things are not so good right now.

The worst news is for her: no more milk, of any kind. In fact, no more dairy at all, for two weeks.

No. More. Dairy. The stuff she demands all the time, the only thing she wants at bedtime.

We start this nightmare scenario on Friday, which gives me some time to introduce her iodine supplement and make sure she handles it fine. She is deficient in iodine, but not deficient in trace minerals. Biggest news, her thyroid stuff is off. So even if dairy turns out to be ok after a few weeks, until her thyroid is fixed, she can’t have milk anymore. It affects her weight too much. The one thing she insists on, she can’t have. At least not for a long time, while we’re getting her thyroid hormones back on track.

After our horrific Halloween, I had hoped for some peace. Looks like we have more horror ahead.

  1. Sorry re the thyroid but glad it was spotted. Deep sympathy re dairy and milk. Any chance she will accept rice dream or almond milk in it’s place? SO SORRY you face this challenge, and happy for her she has you and your clarity on her side.
